About "8 Squared"
The NAHS Chess Club has just been under construction. With a new chess coach and new president, it allows our club
to work with a new angle.
Our team name, "8 Squared", created by co-captain, Alex Schultz, has sparked many different minds as to its meaning.
One being that "8 time 8" (or 8 squared) gives you 64; which makes up the amount of squares on a chess board. The view that
the team was going for that if you rotate the the number 8, you get the infinity sign (∞); this represents endless (or infinite)
possibilities.

Here at “8
Squared”, we hope to teach you that, like a game of chess, there are endless possibilities in life.
Goals of the NAHS Chess Club
- To increase ability to think logically and creatively
- Developing patience
- Raise level of being humble
- To encourage one’s way of analyzing one’s mistakes and success
- To compete against other chess players- school, city and (possibly) state & nationwide
